Run for the Water draws over 2000 entries

The 2008 Keller Williams Realty Run for the Water was held November 9 in Downtown Austin drawing over 2000 participants.  The 10-mile, Kid’s K and 5K events all had increased entries over the 2007 event.  Conditions were perfect on a crisp fall morning with little wind.  The Gazelle Foundation thanks its runner participants, spectators, volunteers race crew and sponsors for making the event an outstanding success.

“We are thrilled to have the strong community support for our premier fundraising and awareness event,” said Peter Rauch, Gazelle Foundation President.  “We grew this year’s Run for the Water by over 15 percent despite a challenging economy.  Austin’s runners, our sponsors and volunteers really came through for us.”

Expenses are not yet totaled, but the Foundation hopes to have raised enough money to support a full water project in Burundi.  “For each participant, we’re basically helping one other individual in Burundi gain access to clean water,” stated Gilbert Tuhabonye, Gazelle Foundation Executive Director.  “To have over two thousand people support our cause is wonderful.  Murakose, Austin.”
