Volunteer with Run for the Water

We are fast approaching the fifth annual Run for the Water 10-Miler, 5K, and Kids K. Over 2,000 runners, walkers, and kids come out each year to support the Gazelle Foundation’s mission of bringing clean water to the people of Burundi through their participation. With each registration ($25) we are able to guarantee one person access to clean water for the rest of their life. But if you don’t want to run that’s okay and we ask that you consider volunteering. Whether you have one hour a week available or more free time on your hands than you know what to do with, we could put your talents to use! Below are the areas in which one can assist, and should you have any questions or want to help us help others feel free to contact us at info@gazellefoundation.com.

  • Sponsorship – A major part of our race, being on this committee involves securing sponsors and ensuring race day logistics are clearly communicated and delivered.
  • Fundraising – In 2010 we added an additional piece to the race, allowing participants – and non-participants – to raise money for the Foundation and offering various levels of incentives depending on how much they raise. Assistance is needed in furthering the message on fundraising, gathering incentives from local businesses and sponsors, and ensuring participants receive the proper incentives on race day.
  • Marketing – We have a top-notch marketing team for the race in Sanders\Wingo. If you want to work with professionals in what we consider the greatest race branding around, this is for you! Our ‘Reasons to Run’ campaign has been a big hit with participants and this year we’ll look to be even more creative. Your involvement could be anything from helping us pass out t-shirts and bumper stickers to runners on the trail (and at races) up to refining the campaign alongside Sanders\Wingo.
  • Packet Pickup/Registration – More of a race-weekend role, duties could include overseeing a section of packet pickup and its volunteers, working all day Friday or Saturday at registration or shirt distribution, or serving for various time slots at packet pickup.
  • Awards – We take pride in having unique awards to present our overall and age group winners. Help us be creative and different again this year, or help pass them out on race day. And you can do both if you’d like!
  • Public Relations/Social Media – Help us promote the race by reaching out to media outlets, creating Facebook/Twitter posts, and shoot/edit videos.
  • Murakoze!
